ভূমি বা জমির ক্ষেত্রফল বা পরিমাণ বের করার সূত্র সমূহ

একটি ভূমি বা জমি ক্রয় অথবা বিক্রয়ের ক্ষেত্র অথবা যেকোন কৌতুহল বসত ঐ ভূমি সম্বন্ধে জানতে হলে প্রথমে আমরা যে প্রশ্নটি করে থাকি তা হচ্ছে ঐ জমির পরিমান কত অর্থাৎ ইহার ক্ষেত্রফল কত, ইংরেজিতে ইহাকে এরিয়া (Area) বলে। জমি মাপার ক্ষেত্রে সবচেয়ে লক্ষণীয় বিষয় হচ্ছে ঐ জমির দৈর্ঘ্য (Length) এবং প্রস্থ (Width) বের করা। দৈর্ঘ্য এবং প্রস্থকে গুন করলে আমরা জমির ক্ষেত্রফল পাই। ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে বাংলাদেশ, কলকাতা, আসাম, উড়িষ্যা, বিহার এবং ভারতের অনেকগুলো প্রদেশে একর এবং শতাংশ হিসাবে জমি পরিমাপ করা হয়। প্রকৃতিগতভাবে জমির আকৃতি বিভিন্ন হয়ে থাকে, অর্থাৎ জমি চতুর্ভুজ, আয়তাকার (Rectangle), বর্গাকার (Square), ত্রিভুজ (Triangle) অথবা বৃত্তাকার (Circle) হয়ে থাকে।  জমির ক্ষেত্রফলের হিসাব বের করার নিয়ম নিন্মরূপঃ ১। চতুর্ভুজ আকৃতির জমির ক্ষেত্রফল বের করার সূত্র জমির চারটি আইলকে উত্তর, দক্ষিণ, পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম নামে চিহ্নিত করা যায়। গড় দৈর্ঘ্য = ( উত্তর আইলের দৈর্ঘ্য + দক্ষিণ আইলের দৈর্ঘ্য ) / ২ গড় প্রস্থ = ( পূর্ব আইলের দৈর্ঘ্য + পশ্চিম আইলের দৈর্ঘ্য ) / ২ জমির পরিমাণ = দৈর্ঘ্য × প্রস্থ = __ বর্গ একক উদাহরণ : চারকোণা একটি
